FAQs
Do I need book my own flights and hotel?
No. We take full responsibility of booking your flights and accommodation. You will have to make your own travel arrangements to and from the airport in the UK.
How are the funds used?
All funds raised by all participants will be allocated to the following aid distributed during your deployment and project expenses incurred throughout the deployment. Surplus funds will be used for similar projects in our other countries of work. Not only with the funds you raise support the country you will visit, the funds will also support other countries that are too dangerous to visit but are also in need.
What happens if I miss my fundraising deadline?
From the date you receive your fundraising link, we give you a maximum of twelve months to achieve your fundraising goal. We feel this is more than enough time for you to achieve your target. If you have not reached your goal within twelve months, we reserve the right to cancel your application and allocate the funds raised to our projects. Due to our charitable status, we are required to delivery aid via fundraising within a specific time frame.
Can I postpone my deployment until the next one?
This will be assessed based on the situation at the time. You must provide a compelling reason, supported by evidence of circumstances beyond your control. Even if approval is granted by the deployment management team, we cannot guarantee you a place on the next deployment (if one occurs). If you wish to participate again, you will need to restart fundraising from the beginning, and any funds previously raised will have been allocated to the trip.
Can I bring cash donations with me?
No. All cash donations collected by you will need to handed into your local HRF office. You are not be permitted to take any cash donations with you on the deployment. All cash donations must be declared by you and handed in prior to the deployment taking place.
Can I get a refund of donations?
No. Donors who donate towards your fundraising target are donating to the charity - not to you as an individual. Only if a donor has a valid reason, such as cancellation of the deployment by HRF may they request a refund or other strong valid justification.
Can I bring clothes or toys as donations for orphans?
No. All aid that is to be distributed will be arranged by local staff & partners. Should I bring spending money? Yes, you can. However, the amount must be declared with the deployment management team prior to travelling. The amount of cash shouldn’t exceed the UK customs regulations and should be minimum enough for your actual need as pocket money for a short trip.
Do I have the option to cover my own expenses?
Yes. If you wish to cover your own expenses you have this option. An invoice of your individual expenses will be sent you at the end of the trip.
Will I have to cover my own expenses?
No. We will cover your expenses during the trip which will include your flights, accommodation, daily travel and evening meal. Breakfast will be included in the hotel booking. Anything else will have to be paid for by you.
What is HRFs donation policy?

The quick and easy way to answer is that we strive to keep our costs at less than 10%. For a more detailed explanation please speak to a member of staff who can explain it in further detail.
